Cold Spring Granite Announces New AIA and ASLA Presentation
Cold Spring, Minn. – Cold Spring Granite – the leading quarrier and fabricator of natural stone in North America – now offers a presentation called “Stone in Design – A Collaboration: Working with Stone Firms in the early Design Phases.” This presentation has recently been approved through both the American Institute of Architects (AIA/CES) and the American Society of Landscape Architects (LA CES) Continuing Education Systems.
The AIA/CES program was developed to help members meet their state mandatory continuing education requirements. Currently, AIA offers architects continuing education courses from more than 2,000 approved providers. Continuing education is also required for landscape architecture license renewal in 34 states. In response to this need, ASLA offers landscape architects and related design professionals continuing education courses from more than 130 approved providers through their LA CES program. Cold Spring Granite’s newest presentation is now offered as part of these programs.
“Cold Spring Granite has completed significant market research in the last year and this presentation is a result of what the industry asked for.” said Dan Rea, Senior Vice President. “We understand the importance of relevant and meaningful continuing education programs for today’s architects, designers and specifiers. This presentation will give us the opportunity to educate professionals in the industry about the benefits of using natural stone.”
Cold Spring Granite’s program is intended to give architects a comprehensive understanding about the use of natural stone in projects as well as define key elements in the design process. The presentation provides information about when and why natural stone elements should drive the design intent as well as the importance of project team interaction with stone specialists. The program is also intended to give design professionals a comprehensive understanding of natural stone and its use in landscape architecture design. Information on stone formation, quarrying, fabrication process, piece size and thickness, applications, finishes and sampling, setting systems, testing and pricing considerations is also provided. Further, the presentation also explains how the natural stone industry is playing a role in green construction and can contribute to LEED points. Best practices and case studies also are shared in the program.
