Sustainability

Corporate sustainability: the model that inspires

Stone is a natural resource. However, the way it is quarried, processed, transported and used determines its environmental footprint. Building on Coldspring's long commitment to treat our product's source—the earth—with respect, we are dedicated to developing and maintaining stone processing practices that minimize the impact on the environment.

In fact, creating a corporate culture founded on sustainable practices is lived each day through our commitment to the Triple Bottom Line.

 Social

Social

  • Improve the lives of our people, communities and customers
  • Advance personnel safety
  • Create opportunities for professional development
  • Develop health and wellness programs
  • Support volunteerism
 Environmental

Environmental

  • Lessen the impact of operating performance/distribution processes on air, land and water
  • Recycle more than 95% of the water we use
  • Plan for quarry reclamation
  • Minimize transportation through on-site (quarry) processing
  • Maximize quarry yield and minimize waste
  • Minimize waste by creating stone by-products (jetty stone, riprap, aggregate)
 Economic

Financial

  • Acknowledge gains that extend beyond our financial health
  • Continue to build on a reputation of responsible community relations that is more than a century old through our investment of products, services and presence in the communities across the nation where we live and work
  • Foster a strong, financial balance sheet that provides the resources to continue to achieve sustainability goals

Industry leadership

We are committed to maintain our position at the forefront of the Green Building movement through:

  • Ongoing education
  • Research and testing
  • Continuous process improvement
  • Plan/implement initiatives that substantiate and promote the environmental profile
  • Encourage the science of sustainability by extending our influence and assistance to help designers evaluate materials, based on hard data
  • Member Natural Stone Council (NSC) Sustainability Committee
